A laser beam is a man-made
concentrated ray of light that is sent
thru a special lens to produce a highly
focused pinpoint area of light energy.
This light energy or what we call the
laser beam can then be used to vaporize
any injured or abnormal tissues that
needs to be repaired. Besides vaporizing
the abnormal tissue the
laser also controls any excess bleeding
and also sterilizes
the area at the same time.

Now days, laser technology
is used for everything from removal
of toenails to eye surgery. In podiatry
laser surgery has been used on many
conditions for several years.

In Ingrown Toenails
the laser destroys the
cells of the nail root,
which then prevents your toenail from
growing abnormally. In Fungus Toenail
conditions the laser kills off the fungus
spores that have invaded and is living
off of the nail. Warts,
which are viral infections of the foot can be
vaporized by the laser, which avoids burning or
cutting them out. Other foot problems
such as Neuromas, ulcers,
ganglion cyst, and deep-seated
Calluses can
also be treated by the laser.
The major benefit of laser surgery as
compared with traditional foot surgery is that
healing time appears to be improved with the
laser. Because the laser is a precise tool, it causes
less swelling, less tissue damage, and minimal
bleeding, patients seem to heal quicker with less
pain and less post operative infections.
